Notes from the Decline of America. "If you can't bash your own who can you bash?" Propaganda as an art form. The Shadow speaks. The whole is different than the sum of its parts. Things fall apart on their own.

On This Modern Warrior Archetype Part Six.9.18
9p. Meritocracy is mostly a fable. Connections always count. The degree is directly proportional to the level of decline. As the relative weight increases, ability counts for less. At a certain point, associations count for everything. Shared fantasies are a potentially fatal consequence of such inbreeding. Unless after the fact, policy becomes increasingly unexamined. Only reaction is possible. Damage control becomes constant. Stress eventually leads to a breaking. Delusion is an extreme response to broken down policy. Unable to respond, constrained by high costs produced by unrealistic expectations, only desperation remains. The next step is living in a bunker. Failure is always someone else’s fault.
It seems that the mass delusion, as a response to unrealistic expectations via denial, is the avoidance of failure and thus in fact, as a damage control mechanism, maintains an unchallenged status quo. Connections, proportional to the level of decline, thus appears synonymous with the quality of the system more so than the quantity of its production; conflict becomes submerged for the social justice of the new meritocracy.
